Last One Standing
One hour, one lap, the same start line again and again – THE43 Race is not a classic ultracycling race with a fixed total distance or a destination from A to B. The principle is brutally simple: at the top of every hour, the field starts again on the same course. Anyone who is not ready at the start signal is out. Around 17.7 kilometers and roughly 185 meters of elevation gain must be completed within exactly one hour each time. What seems manageable at first becomes harder with every lap: every climb comes back, every descent has to be controlled again, every change of rhythm digs deeper into legs and mind. The course does not change – but the remaining time, the concentration, and the body change with every hour. Those who return earlier gain minutes. Those who return later lose recovery. A circuit becomes an elimination race against the clock, fatigue, and your own limit.
What makes THE43 Race special is this clear, brutal simplicity. Between laps, the basecamp becomes the second part of the race: eat, drink, change clothing, charge lights, repair, rest briefly, and get back to the line in time. It is not about the fastest single lap, but about the ability to keep coming back and still save enough strength for the next start. With every hour, the field gets smaller, the clock gets bigger, and the question becomes harder: who will stand on the start line one more time? If several riders are still in the race after 42 hours, the 43rd lap becomes the final elimination round – whoever returns first in accordance with the rules wins. For everyone else, one number remains: the number of hours in which they lined up again. Whoever rides THE43 Race does not simply collect kilometers. Step by step, they experience how a single lap turns into a limit.
